‘Balanced dates’ of each year are dates on which the month and day are equal to the last two digits of

the year, using any of the basic operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication or division. For

example, May 25, 2020 (Date of George Floyd’s murder) would be expressed this way: - 5+ 25 = 20.

Assignments:  (1) Find all the ‘balanced dates’ of 2021. (N.B.: The significance of these dates will be

explained later)

                       (2) Find the most accurate square root of 5 and 8 without using a calculator.  Explain.

(More to come in the next edition.)

A Mothers’ Day Special:

Did you know that the Creation stories in the book of Genesis point to the equality of man and woman as the only partners fit for each other.  According to Genesis 2:22, “The rib which the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man.” The fact that she was made from a ‘rib’ taken from his side, and not a bone taken from the ‘toe’ or ‘skull’ implies that a woman’s place is ‘beside’ her man. The French philosopher, Albert Camus puts it this way as he refers to that equality in a dialogue between a man and a woman: “Do not walk in front of me, because I may not follow; do not walk behind me, because I may not lead; but walk beside me and be my friend.”

However, when it comes to their relationship with God, the woman is ‘closer’ to Him. Genesis 3:20 tells us, “The man called his wife’s name EVE, because she was the MOTHER  of all living”. The Hebrew words for Eve and for God come from the same root, meaning LIFE. Yes, mothers are extra special.

The Unique Beauty of Psalm 119.

  1. Psalm 119 is the longest in the Book of Psalms, with 176 verses.

  2. It is divided into 22 Sections  of 8 verses each; hence the 176 total.

  3. Each Section is entitled  with a letter of the Hebrew alphabet… all 22 of them. (Aleph, Beth…)

  4. The first word of each sentence in a particular Section begins with the same letter in Hebrew.

  5. The Psalm makes great sense whether it is read forward (1-176) or backward (176-1).

ENJOY!
