BIOGRAPHICAL DATA OF MR. RICHARD NATHELBERT STOUTE, GCM, BSS, CPA
FOR THE PURPOSE OF HIS NOMINATION
FOR THE YEAR 2018 KNIGHT OF ST. ANDREW NATIONAL HONOURS
MR. RICHARD Nathelbert STOUTE was born in Barbados on 8th January, 1946 in the Parish of St. Michael. He received his education at St. Mary’s Junior School and subsequently at St. Leonard’s Boys School. Mr. Stoute was an exceptional school student and aspired to begin a 60-year career in Music and Entertainment, the field that he loved, since at the very young age of 12.
Richard Stoute could have taken the opportunity to leave the shores of Barbados to pursue opportunities elsewhere; however, his decision was to remain in Barbados to mentor and share his talents with scores of up and coming aspiring singers. Ultimately, for the last 42 years Mr. Stoute has graduated thousands of Barbadian Youth with Music careers. A few notable graduates and contestants are: Rupee, Edwin Yearwood, Hal Linton, Adrian Clarke Anderson “Blood” Armstrong, Tamara Marshall, Terencia Coward, and Calypso Monarchs, Classic, Ian Webster, Aziza; which demonstrates his contribution to the Crop Over Festivities. The Soca Monarchs are Mr. Blood Armstrong, Barry Chandler, Alison Hinds, Terencia Coward and Rupee; all who have gone on to realize impressive careers. Last year’s Crop Over Semi-finalists boasted 18 contestants who came through The Richard Stout Teen Talent Contest; of which 11 made Semi-finals. Of the 10 Finalists, 8 made it to the Finals. The ultimate winner, Ian Webster, was a Richard Stout Teen Talent Winner. Within the last three years, 3 Crowns were won by Teen Talent Contestants…They are, Classic, Aziza, and Ian Webster. It is also notable that many of the Back-Up Singers in the Calypso Tents have also come through the ranks of the Richard Stoute Teen Talent Contest.
